Vision

At Woodbank we want Geography to be more than just memorising places on a map - Geography is the subject that highlights links between the natural world and the impact humans have on it.

We aim to instil a passion for both physical and human geography by motivating children to develop an interest in and fascination for the world we live in and it’s inhabitants, through purposeful research and questioning that stimulate geographical enquiry.

Developing a sense of place is important to enable children to grow into well rounded adults, and understanding the differences between places, cultures and times can help them achieve this. Providing children with geographical skills and opportunities to plan and carry out field trips in the local area and afar will put these skills into practice.
